The Socioeconomic Development of Indian Community Unit (SEDIC) was designated as an implementation entity for the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB). SEDIC was restructured in line with the focus areas and initiatives defined in the Blueprint to uplift the socioeconomic status of the Indian community, especially B40.

Who We Are

Socio-Economic Development of Indian Community (SEDIC), is a unit under the Prime Minister's Department which coordinates and oversees the execution of every single deliverable outlined in the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB)

SEDIC is headed by a Director-General, followed by the Deputy Director-General and 6 directors for 6 Departments relevant to the upliftment of the community.

It is to be noted in many instances, be it education, employment or wealth; the Indians are under represented and under performing compared to all other races. With this in mind, the Government has developed a 10-year master plan (MIB), which would ensure mainstreaming of initiatives within the relevant ministries and agencies.

The CCIC Executive Committee was formed to support overall governance function of the CCIC, where the Executive Committee will meet monthly to resolve inter-agency implementation issues and to track progress. This committee is chaired by YB Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam and the Consultative & Advisory Board is chaired by YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Irwan Serigar.

Besides that, a separate and independent monitoring mechanism will be set up to ensure that the indicators for performance and impact are correctly set and measured.

All ministries and agencies KPI would be set based on the targets and timeline outlined in the Blueprint.

The yearly targets of the MIB will be monitored and annually audited by an independent monitoring body and tabled to the Executive Board.
