Calling All Indian Students to Apply for Matriculation & Polytechnic Intake 2018

Pre-University Matriculation Program

Students sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) in 2017 are encouraged to apply for the Matriculation Programme of 2018/19 session, fully sponsored by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia. The closing date of the application is November 30th, 2017.

There are a total of 1,500 seats allocated specifically for Indian students in the matriculation programme. As the deadline nears, this announcement is critical to encourage more Indian students to submit their applications for Matriculation.

Matriculation is one of the most convenient pre-university route for students who have just completed their SPM examination. It is the best channel to pursue a degree course as scholarship is provided upon completion with good results.

Upon completing this 1 year program, students would find it easier to get admission into local University for Degree programmes in the field of science, technology and accountancy.

Students can apply for the matriculation programme by simply using their SPM trial examination results. Grades should not deter submissions as the application process will only be finalised once the actual SPM results are out. The closing date for students to submit their online application is on 30th November 2017.

Submitting the application online only requires a few simple steps.

  1. Firstly, a student will have to purchase a special pin number from any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch.
  2. Next, the student will have to fill up and submit his/her application online via by keying in his/her IC number and BSN pin number which was purchased earlier.
  3. A copy of the application is to be then emailed to Socioeconomic Development of Indian Community (SEDIC) via to ensure tracking with MOE.
  4. Students can then start checking their application status via, thirty (30) days after the SPM results are announced.

Polytechnic Diploma Walk in Application Submission is Open for SPM leavers of 2016

Polytechnic programmes are equally competitive. Students with a diploma certificate from polytechnics plus a CGPA of 3.5 and above have successfully pursued their degree programmes in local universities. The diploma is recognized internationally, even earning seats in renowned universities based in America and the United Kingdom.

To obtain admission into Polytechnic programmes, students can visit for information on the various available courses and locations of polytechnic institutes across Malaysia. Once a student has decided on the location and programme, the student can drop by the nearest Polytechnic institute and submit their applications along with required documents by 15th December 2017.

This public announcement follows the Government’s aspiration to increase student enrolment in public universities and up the game for the younger Malaysian Indians. The intention is to press ahead with the announced 7% intake for Indian students into public universities (IPTA) as it will provide more young Indians with access to quality education.
